Cricket has evolved over the years.  In recent years women’s cricket has seen many great players. There have been many amazing performances by women cricketers in all formats of the game. This has resulted in more investment and viewership for women’s Cricket. We will look at some of the top-performing women Cricketers of the world according to icc latest news

Alyssa Healy

Healy is an Australian Cricketer who plays as a wicketkeeper. She has been part of the Australian team that has won the T20 world cup 5 times. In the recently held world cup in 2022 hosted by New Zealand, Healy scored the most runs in the tournament and was named the player of the tournament. She played a magical inning of 170 runs in the 2022 world cup final helping Australia win the world cup title for the 7th time. She also holds the record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in T20 internationals breaking M.S Dhoni’s record.

Sophie Ecclestone

Ecclestone is a slow left-arm spinner who plays for England. She made her International debut in 2016. She is the number 1 ranked bowler in both T20 and ODI Cricket. In the recently concluded women’s world cup in 2022, she was the leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets. She took her career-best figures of 6/36 in the semi-finals against South Africa. She was named the Emerging player of the year in 2018. She also won the ICC player of the Month award in June 2021.

Hayley Matthews

Matthews is an all-rounder who plays for West Indies Team. She bats right-handed and bowls right-arm spin. She made her International debut at the age of 16 years in 2014. She was a key member of the West Indian team who won the T20 world cup in 2016. She played a knock of 66 runs in the finals and helped her team win the game against the Australian team. She is the number 1 all-rounder in women’s cricket. She is also named the captain of the West Indies team in 2022.

Harmanpreet Kaur 

Kaur is an Indian Cricketer who plays as an all-rounder in the team. She bats right-handed and also bowls right-arm spin. She made her International debut in 2009 against Pakistan. She became the first Indian women Cricketer to score a century in T20 cricket. Kaur has captained the Indian side and has helped them win many matches. She made unbeaten 171 runs against Australia in the semi-finals of the 2017 world cup and helped her team reach the finals. She received Arjuna Award from the Government of India in the year 2017.

Sophie Devine 

Devine is an all-rounder who plays in New Zealand. She made her debut in 2006 at the age of 17 years. She became the first Cricketer to score six consecutive fifties in 2020. She scored fifty of 18 balls which is the fastest fifty in women’s cricket. She also scored a century of 36 balls which is the fastest hundred in women’s T20 Cricket. She has captained the New Zealand team in both T20 and ODI.

Deepti Sharma

Sharma is an Indian Cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for the team. She bats right-handed and is a right-arm spinner. She made her International debut in 2014 against South Africa. She played an innings of 188 runs and was involved in a world record opening partnership of 320 runs with fellow teammate Poonam Raut. She took 6 wickets for 20 runs against Sri Lanka which are her career-best figures in ODI. She won Jagmohan Dalmiya Trophy in 2018 for being the best senior domestic player.

Beth Mooney

Mooney is an Australian Cricketer who bats in the top order. She made her International debut against India in 2016. She won the ICC player of the year award in 2017. She scored an unbeaten 78 runs in the final of the 2020 T20 world cup and helped Australia win the world cup for the 5th time. She has also played as a wicketkeeper in the domestic circuit. She has also ranked the number 1 batter in the world. She made her career-best score of 125 not out against India in 2021.

Laura Wolvaardt

Wolvaardt is a South African Cricketer who bats right-handed as an opener. She made her International debut in 2016 against England. She became the youngest South African player to score a century at the age of 17 years against Ireland. She made her career-best score of 149 against Ireland in 2017. She won the South African Women Cricketer of the year in 2020.  

Natalie Sciver 

Sciver plays as an all-rounder for the England team. She is the first English women Cricketer to take a hat-trick in a T20 International. She has played an important role and helped England win the World Cup in 2017. She made her career-best score of 148 not out against Australia in 2022. She has won the Walter Lawrence Award three times in her career. She has also captained England on a few occasions in absence of regular captain Heather Knight.

Jhulan Goswami

Goswami is an Indian Cricketer who bowls right-arm medium fast. She helped the Indian team to win their first test series in England. She captained the Indian side from 2008 to 2011. She received Arjuna Award from the Government of India in 2010. She was also given Padma Shri award in 2012. The pace bowler has taken 255 wickets in day Internationals and holds the record for the highest number of wickets in ODI. She has also taken 10 wickets in a Test match against England in 2006. She is also the leading wicket-taker in World Cups with 43 wickets to her name.
